Simple Daily Habits That Improve Your Mindset { Even on Bad Days}

Allow me to share a simple mindset focused on peace of mind and clarity of purpose. Nowadays we are bombarbed with daily destructions, and often our mood and mindset are  negatively affected before the day even begins.

In this post, I'd like to share simple daily habits that can help us gently overcome bad days- without pressure or perfection.

In the previous post, I shared how our days can be positively and beautifull affected by small gestures from the people around us, such as:

-Taking a deep breath that calms racing thoughts
-Holding a warm drink in your hands
-Going for a short walk to clear your mind
-Receiving a message from someone who cares

In addition to those gentle gestures, here are a few personal habits that may help improve even the most difficult day:

-practicing gratitude- acknowledging even one positive thing that can shift your mindset
-morning intention setting-preparing your mind for teh day ahead
-gentle movement such a short walk- helping your body stay active and refreshed
-mindfulness or breathing- allowing you to stay present and focused
-limiting negative input-reducing negative thoughts and energy throughout the day
-maintain Journaling  since many people find gratitude journal enable them stay positive and grounded especially on trying moments

These are simple examples of how our days can still feel meaningful and calm in the midst of one's hustle and bustle. Gentle daily habits like these can help improve our mindset, even on difficult days.

If you are having a particular heavy day, let me gently remind you of these thoughts. Pause for a moment, look back on how far you've come, and cherish the small growing moments. These moments help us stay focused, grounded, and positive- one day at a time

Finding Hope When Life Feels Heavy

Have you experienced days when waking up feels like a burden rather than a blessing? The alarm rings, your body moves, but your heart feels tired. On days like these, it can be hard to believe that every day is a gift.

Yet even on the hardest days, there is something quietly powerful about simply being there.

          When Life Feels Like Overwhelming

Life does not always arrive gently. There could be times when it comes with a loss, disappointment, uncertainty or pain we never asked for. We compare ourselves to others and wonder why our journey feels heavier.

But the truth is this: your presence today matters, even nothing feels right yet. You do not need to have everything figured out for today to be meaningful.

A gift does not have to be big to be real. SOmetimes it looks like:
- A deep breath that calms your racing thoughts
-A warm drink in your hands
-A short walk that clears your mind
-A message from someone who cares

These moments may seem small, but they are reminders that life is still offering something to you.

          Growth Often Comes Quietly

Not all progress is loud and visible. Some of the most important growth happens inside:

-Learning patience through waiting
-Building strength through endurance
-Finding compassion through pain.

You may not see it now, but today could be shaping meaningful ahead.

          Give Yourself Grace Today

You are allowed to:
-Rest without guilt
-Feel tired without feeling weak
-Take one step instead of ten.

Surviving a difficult day is still an achievement. Take this gentle remidner for all of us. If today feels heavy, remind yourself: I don't need to have a perfect day for it to be a gift. I only need to keep going. Every day you are given breath, time and possibility. That alone makes today valuable.

Every Day is A Gift- even the quiet, difficult ones.

Unexpected Joys in Ordinary Moments

As I had my normal weekend routine this day that is swimming, I engaged into a conversation with one of the regular attendees of the facility. While hearing the sound of the pool water, I could also sense his excitement as he narrated to me his personal life that after all those years he spent working, he was able to finally reach his milestone: his retirement by April this year.

What was amazing for me is his sense of gratitude for all years he spent working with his company. Though he told me that it was not pure joy due to his job's challenges but somehow, all in all he was joyful to have been able to contribute to the growth of his company. He tried to emphasize to me that it was his company that helped him put food on his table. As I listened intently to his story, I tried to reflect my own Company and there is that sense of gratitude for me to be able to contribute to the success of the Company.

For my friend, retirement could be a start to a new phase of his life journey yet his gratefulness as well as joy to his past life with his Company is considered as a significant chapter of his present life. How about you, when was the last time you felt being grateful to something or to be overjoyed by the turn of your life's events?

Be a Gift to Others

Be a Gift to Others — Kindness is the Sweetest Form of Revenge

Kindness is more powerful than revenge. Thus, when you choose to lift others up, you not only brighten their day but also strengthen your own heart. Small gestures, right mindset and small gestures can make a big difference.

As I grow older and experience more of life, I'm beginning to understand that being a gift to others isn't about grand gestures. It's about small, consistent acts of kindness and presewnce. This reflection feels even more meaningful to me todfay, so I want to expand on what I've learned.

As human beings, one of our basic needs is to be in contact with others. Life is a give and take reality. I always believe in the saying that " No man is an island". Life is a reciprocal relationship in which we invest in ourselves and we acknowledge the presence of the other person. Thus in relation to this, we can ask ourselves "How could we, in our own way, be gifts to others?"

Some of the ways that we can realise this is through the following: practicing empathy, listening actively, showing kindness and generosity, offering encouragement and support, sharing knowledge and skills, being realiable and trustworthy.

On practicing empathy, learn to put yourself in the other person's shoes. By so doing, this allows you to understand his perspectives, experiences and feelings. Aside from this, also learn how to extend genuine concern and compassion to his well being.  On listening actively, assimilate to be free from any bias and never put judgment on the other person. When situation allows you, consciously give support and validation while keeping away from suggesting any solution.

On showing kindess and generosity, keep yourself away from making any judgment and bias even if you are tempted to do so. Being generous of your time is such an honourly act that it results a smile on him. Just complimenting someone of a job well done could be a simple thing but for the other person, it may be a big deal. On the other hand, on times of difficulties, master the art of extending affirmation and words of relief.

Meanwhile, being able to share your knowledge and skills could result to being an invaluable thing to others. Becoming a companion to other's journey results positively since it is a relief to realise that we have a shoulder to lean on to make the load lighter.

What Being a Gift Really Means Today

When I first wrote this post, I thought being a gift to others meant doing something big or extraordinary. But life has taught me something deeper. Being a gift is not about perfection. It is about presence. Sometimes it is:
-listening when someone needs to talk and I am proud of myself to say that I am quite good in this,
-Encouraging someone who feels behind,
-Showing up consistently even when you're tired

Those small actions are part of building daily mindset habits that shape who we become over time.

I've realised that the people who impacted my life the most were not the loudest or the most successful. They were the ones who were present. They made others feel valued. In today's world, where everyone is rushing, choosing to slow down and genuinely care is already a gift.

And the beautiful truth is this: When you become a gift to others, your own life becomes richer too. You gain purpose, connection, and meaning. This is also part of the of your bigger personal growth journey, where every small act contributes to who you are becoming. If you're reading this and wondering whether you matter- you do. Your kindness, your time, and your encouragement may be exactly what someone needs today.

Kindness is the Sweetest Form of Revenge

Note: As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

One precious activity when time is at my side is to listen to stories about people. And recently I had the pleasure of hearing the sharing of a friend. Her story's gist is that she was unlucky to have people in her life who were unsupportive of her goals and dreams. She doesn't feel accepted and welcomed in their lives.  However, instead of doing the exact negative thing, what she manifested to them was humility and kindness.

Kindness is more powerful than revenge. Hence, when you choose to lift others up, you not only brighten their dsy but also strengthen your own heart.

Imagecredit:https://pixabay.com/photos/portsmouth-england-old-town-uk-713991/

Yes, the finest form of revenge is at times being better---killing them with kindness, success and a smile. In her case, nothing frustrates her haters more than seeing her thrive. It clearly sounds like she might be dealing with some resentful and jealous people. Its logical to feel that sometimes but it can also be an opportunity to reflect- why does her success or even just herself bothers them. However, instead of being down and frustrated, she utilized it as a driving force to level up in her own way.

Furthermore, frustration can be a motivation for success. Personally, I also believe on that frustration, when channeled positively, can be a powerful driving force. It can push people to work harder, prove themselves, and refine their gifts. Many successful people, including my friend, have used setbacks, criticism or even jealousy as energy to arrive new heights. The key is turning that negative energy such as jealosy to motivation and action instead of letting it consume you.

P.S.- Heaps of thanks to my friend, Theresa, for trusting me to hear her story.

How Do You Face Personal Adversity in Life?

Life continues to test and shape me in ways I never expected. Since writing this post, I've experienced new challenges that deepened my understanding of adversity. I want to share what I've learned recently and how facing hardship has strengthened my mindset even more.

Amidst the challenging times that we are facing nowadays I mean it is a universal thing presently that mankind is facing such a tested phase with all these negative situations like inflations, low wages, high cost of living, poverty, housing crisis, conflicts and war in places etc. it is but natural for us to panic and be uneasy in the midst of all these hindrances.

And how about you, how do you engage and immerse yourself in the middle of this chaotic situation? Personally I would say that there are elements that we should all possess so that we can overcome this test. And these are the spirit of being resilient, extending our support system and self care.

First, resilience will allow us to bounce back from adversities. No matter how difficult the situation is, we should stay calm and never to allow our emotions to take over our heart and head. If we are able to do it, our self confidence will be boosted. In addition, this is essential for us to be able to maintain our mental health. Here in Australia, heaps of cases of people with depression exist since it goes by with the difficult times that we have now.  Of course, I know of some people also who were strong enough to get up in the experience of depression. At the end of the day, it boils down on how a person behave in the face of a difficult situation.

Second, extending our support system is very crucial for I constantly believe that we are born to help each other. No one among us could ever survive in such a complicated world just by him alone. We should always acknowledge the presence of others especially those significant people in our life. It is always a give and take situation. Can you feel the security when you think that you are not alone in this life journey? Thus it is beneficial to establish and strengthen our relationships with others.

Finally, overcoming today's situation can also be made possible by taking care of ourselves. Self care is very important for it is said that we can only be able to help others if initially, we are healed and in contact of our own reality and dynamics. We will only be capable of extending love to others if on the first place, we are convinced that we are also loved by others. Remember always, learn to go easy with yourself then everything will be on its proper place.

What Adversity Has Taught Me Recently

Over time, I've realised that adversity is not something we survive- it is something that shapes us. When I first faced personal struggles, my instinct was to resist them. I questioned why things were happening and wished for easier circumstances. But looking back now, I see that those difficult moments forced me to grow in ways comfort never could.Adversity builds resilience quietly. It strengthens your emotional endurance, sharpens your decision-making, and reveals your true priorities. The lessons often come disguised as pressure.

One thing that helped me most during hard seasons was focusing on small daily habits that improve my mindset. Even when  life felt overwhelming, keeping simple routines grounded me and reminded me that I still had control over my attitude and actions.

I also learned that negativity can grow quickly if left unchecked. That's why I made a conscious effort to reflect, reset, and actively learn to overcome negativity whenever it tried to take over my thoughts.

Hence, adversity does not define you- your response does. And sometimes, the hardest seasons become the foundation for your strongest future.

My Son's First Day in High School

Yesterday marked another milestone for me and my son since he started his first day in High School on that day. Me and my wife were both excited and nervous as well since it was his first time to ride the public transport by himself. What made us a little bit relax though was by reminding our son to make sure that everything is prepared the night before. This included his school supplies, bag, and uniforms.

Knowing that it will be his first time to ride the bus by himself, we tried to orient him where then is the route of the bus and also its point of stop. Thus the day of reckoning came in yesterday as he had his first day in school. We were excited waiting for him in the afternoon. And when he came in, we eagerly asked him how then was the day for him.

As parents, we were also monitoring the school's update through their website and indeed, we were so elated to read those news coming from the school's staff especially from the principal letting us know the developments/ updates for all students' first day in school. At the end of the day, I was telling myself that I need to give patience for my son in his period of transition.

How to Be a Positive Member of a Community.

Here in Australia, I am proud to share that I and my family are members of Cloverton Estate in the Northside of Melbourne. And it is always my dream of living in a community that is such a vibrant, fun and a loving one. And I would say that being a good member of a community includes  contributing positively and helping to create a supportive and harmonious environment. Here are tips to follow so as to be one:

1. Respect Others: We must learn to treat all community members with respect regardless of their backgrounds, opinions, and beliefs. Respect differences and be open- minded.

2. Actively listen: Be a good listner. We should learn to give attention to what others are saying and show empathy towards their concerns and ideas. Engage in constructive and meaningful conversations.

3. Communicate effectively: Communicate clearly and honestly. Express your thoughts and opinions respectfully and avoid aggressive or confrontational language. Effective communication is crucial for resolving conflicts and misundersatinding.

4. Contribute positively: Create a positive impact on the community through your action whether it is through volunteering, sharing knowledge or helping others. Be a prt of the solution and not a problem.

5. Cooperate and collaborate: Work collaboratively, extend your resources with others to achive common goals. Teamwork and cooperation are essential in any community setting. Extending oneself for the growth of thew community is a very noteworthy action and if each member of the community will do this then most ;probably the community will grow tremendously.

6. Offer support: Be present to your  fellow members in times of need. Offer help, support or comfort to those who require it. Acts of kindless go a long way.

7. Lead by example: Set a positive example through your behavior and actions. Demonstrating good counduct can inspire others to follow suit.

These are but just a few tips on how to be a good member of any community. Remember always, no one amonbg us can live alone rather we always need each other.

Life is Too Short

A Reflection:

Life is indeed too short. I have been hearing and reading stories about life being too short. I have heard of somebody who has been diagnosed with a stage four cancer at such a young age......or that of a friend who is just on his thirties yet already suffering from a life threatening condition......or those cases we heard when Covid hit us so deep and hard where numbers of people were killed as a result of acquiring the dreaded disease.

Personally I just had my own experience on how fragile life is. Though mine is one not as such a life threatening one yet with my present state, I still was able to reflect how vulnerable life is it. While at work last Tuesday afternoon, I began to feel pain on the lower part of my left leg. I finished work then went home and rested for the night. The next day, while at work, the pain on same spot was beginning to cause me uneasy and uncomfortable hence I decided to go home. The following day, I had check up with my doctor and he mentioned something about condition on my muscles plus some medical terms which for me are hard to digest.

Anyway, as I write this post, I am in medications and still experiencing the pain ( though not as intense anymore as of that Wednesday). My condition leads me to reflect how unpredictable life could be. We might be so healthy and strong today but the next day we don't exactly know how life would be for us. Thus, it is so notable for us to spend life to its fullest. We need to take care of ourselves ( I often heard this from a mate at work) and this is so true. We need to keep a constant positive checklist of our  body. Yet reality would tell us that somehow, out of our busyness, we tend to neglect and listen to our body. It's only when we are in a situation that the body tends to complain already through a sickness or any feeling of discomfort that we realise how fragile life is.

Being good to our body is a sacred obligation for us and it is done not just for our sake but also for those special people in our life- our family and for all people who loved us.  As I would always remind myself and others, when we hurt or experience pain in ourselves, directly or indirectly, our loved ones also feel the same. So let us constantly be good to our bodies. Be happy and always spread the positive vibes ( avoid any negative indeed).

" Nothing on My Head"

While at work yesterday, out of nowhere, I asked a colleague what could be a possible topic for this blog and she told me, "Nothing on my head as of the moment". Then I replied her, that's exactly would be my subject. Hence I am here now writing something about it. Personally I perceived her honest reply to my query as a consequence of her being so occupied with our job yesterday.

Yet as I reflected on her phrase after work, I told myself that indeed, it is a reality that in many occasions in our life, we tend to wonder to nowhere. "Nothing on my head" could mean that momentarily, life seems to be so boring and vague....or that nothing spectacular or splendid is happening in life. Mountains of reasons could play in such situations like losing a special someone in life or getting sick or being rejected from a job interview etc. However looking on the opposite side of the coin, is it so wonderful to wake up every single day in life?

imagecredit: Image by Kohji Asakawa from Pixabay

In our lifetime, heaps of reasons can be our motivations to make this life as such a wonderful place to be. One thing then that can help us reach such state is by constantly being present to our "NOW" moment. Let us not be imprisoned by things done in the past nor lazily dwell on things of the future. Rather let us learn to savour life's every moment. Remember always, life's journey is a passing one and   we could be helped by our previous experiences even the negative ones by embracing them and facilitate them as a guide to trek positively today's journey.

Yes there could be thousands of reasons for others to live a miserable and empty life but  there are also millions of reasons for us to look forward and smile  to each coming new day. We should learn to be grateful for all that has been as well as thankful for everything that is coming.

Special thanks to my friend, Dream
for the suggestion

Qualities of a Good Worker

While working as in charge of personnel in a manufacturing company in Cebu, Philippiness and here as a worker of a big company based in Melbourne, Australia, I consistently noticed essential traits or qualities that any worker should have so as to be a positive contributor to the growth of the company.

The workers, no matter how simple or ordinary their contributions to the company, play huge roles in its success. So it is but important to have people who are equipped with the following qualities so that the company can reach its full potential and productivity.

1. Optimistic- the company needs people who are full of optimism in their work that in spite of all hindrances or distractions that come to work, they still continue to perform 100% their roles thinking first and foremost the success of the company;

imagecredit

2. Communication- this sometimes plays a challenge on the part of the company and basing on my personal experience here in Melbourne, Australia having the privilege of working on various industries for years, I noticed that sometimes, the inability to properly communicate an issue, situation or a problem becomes the reason then that no immediate remedy is accorded to the issue at hand. Workers in Melbourne is very rich in multiculturalism and this is somewhat very good as well as encouraging. However, the company needs to be adept and ready to listen and digest all forms of communication to properly assist them;

3. Self- motivated- this refers to the ability of any worker to go beyond his usual hours if needed by the company. He is ready to extend his working hours to in order to complete a task thinking and considering the welfare of the company before his own;

4. Cooperative- this area amazes me at my present workplace since I personally noticed that workers in our area as well as in others are displaying enough cooperation and consequently, this makes the task at hand an easy one and devoid of any stress. I always believe that workers should engage in a consistent  give and take process with the company. The latter rewards the workers with proper compensation as outcome of their contribution to the success of the former.

These are but a few of those qualities and on my next post, I will share further additional qualities that a company should have from its workers.

Family Bonding: Treasuring Memories with Significant Others

Time is precious. Quality time creates special memories in our hearts. Thus last Saturday and Sunday, me and my whole family spent an overnight stay at Myrtleford Hotel right at the middle part of Myrtleford,  a popular tourist destination situated between Wangaratta and Bright.

For two days, we spent precious time exploring the similarly popular tourist destinations like Bright, Lake Buffalo, and Mount Beauty. While on our trip going to our destination, we already observed the breathtaking surroundings on both sides of the road most notably the Great Alpine Road.

When we were at Buffalo River Road which is more or less 21 kilometers away from Myrtleford, the serenity of the water attracted much of my attention. Further the cool breeze of the air penetrated the deepest part of me and gave me heaps of relief to free from stresses.

Meanwhile, the town proper of Myrtleford was already filled with visitors when we arrived at 11 am. Both visitors and local folks were gratifying themselves with their delightful coffees while others were having fun strolling in the parka and chatting. Me and my family spent esteemed memories at the very clean park situated near the busy town centre. Night came and we had our dinner at the hotel and while we enjoyed our delicious food like my favourite salmon filet, we were at the same time delighted to listen to the live band featuring Tahlia Gibson, a very talented young girl who rendered both new and previous hits.

Over all, the opportunity to bond together as a family allowed me and my wife plus our kiddo, Kurt to share wonderful moments.

Health is Wealth

Last Friday, I skipped work due to some pain on my knee part. It  started the day before while I was attending to my role at the workplace . As a result,  I went to see the doctor on that day and she initially assessed my condition as related to arthritis pain. She further recommended me for x-ray to find out the extent of the pain.

While I was resting at home since that day, I told myself how essential for us to maintain that good health day in and out. Comparing to any well oiled machine,  there comes a point in our life that we will suffer inconvenience in our bodies such as illness and others.

imagecredit:https://www.pexels.com/photo/white-curtain-near-ocean-water-169195/

Indeed I know that this life is a gift and alongside with it is my huge responsibility to take care of it. And maintaining harmony as well as balance is my precious task. We need to take care of our bodies and think closely how we treat all its facets including physical, mental, social, psychological and others.

Being busy in whatever endeavour we are in is and never an excuse for us to forget listening to our bodies. On the other hand, we should also refrain from whatever activity that can cause negative outcome to it such as participating in vices and the like. After all, it is very true that "Health is Wealth!" We should love and nurture our bodies for our sake, for the sake of its giver as well as for our loved ones.

A Poem

There is a You
For the world
To look At
There is a You
Around which
The world spins
He walks silently
To every glance
Every step
The road left behind
Becomes light

Treasured Life's Every Moment

While enjoying the start of this Sunday with a delicious coffee prepared by my beloved, it dawned on me to go back into writing since it has been a while that I did not have the luxury of the time to write something about life.  Hence I'm back now into one of my favourite past time which is blogging. And my inspiration for this day's writing is the idea of treasuring every moment of our life.

For the past three years, life has been so challenging for all of us predominantly due to the pandemic (the Coronavirus event) and as a result, heaps among us resort to being pessimistic about life. There are those who tend to withdraw from it instead of facing it fair and square. We all have our individual reasons on our stance against the pandemic. Personally, what I am constantly practicing within myself is to savour every moment of my life.

Imagecredit:https://pixabay.com/photos/bird-fluttering-berries-wings-tit-1045954/

I believe that each day, life has so much positive to give to me and it is always a blessing to be able to wake up each day in the presence of my loved ones- my beloved wife and our son. Just similar to others, I had my own share of this Covid thing and it was difficult for me and my wife since we were struck almost at the same time yet with our faith in God and with taking care of ourselves, we were cured from the Covid virus.

Life is so full of surprises yet with determination and positive outlook, I believe then that everything will be placed on its proper place. We have to. move on from any defeat whatsoever it is and we instead will focus on the sweet side of life--- could be given to us by others like loved ones, family, friends, even strangers and most of all, by our own affirmative attitude towards it.
